Course Content and Structure

This course is made up of eight (8) Units of Competency divided into three Units of Study.

Unit of Study 1 - Managing Learning Development

This unit focuses on the need for managers to be organised, focussed and skilled, in order to effectively manage the work of others. As such it is an important unit for most managers, particularly as managers serve as role models and have a significant influence on the work culture and patterns of behaviour.

Develop a workplace learning environment
Core

All managers have a prominent role in encouraging, supporting and facilitating the development of a learning environment in which work and learning come together. At this level work will normally be carried out within complex and diverse methods and procedures, which require the exercise of considerable discretion and judgement, using a range of problem solving and decision making strategies.

Manage people performance
Core

Team leaders who manage people need to be able to allocate work and know the methods used to review performance, reward excellence and provide feedback where there is a need for improvement. The unit makes the link between performance management and performance development, and reinforces both functions as a key requirement for effective managers. This is a unit that all managers/prospective managers who have responsibility for other employees should strongly consider undertaking.

The task of the manager at this level is to develop and implement an operational plan to ensure that the objectives and strategies outlined in the strategic and/or business plan are met by work teams. In some larger organisations operational plans may be developed by a strategic planning unit.

Core

Planning is the most effective way to ensure that the organisations goals and objectives are met. Managers will be required to have the ability to plan for sales in order to assist those who are on the front line with clients and customers.

Course Options

Delivery and Course Options

Option 1 - Online Delivery

This option involves undertaking self-paced study online with considerable support mechanisms available to ensure successful completion for dedicated Students. Support available includes:

ü  Unlimited email support

ü  Telephone support

ü  Access to online forum

ü  Access to learning and assessment resources online

ü  Options for additional telephone, video link or face to face training (on location) and guidance

Enrolments for this program are taken at multiple points throughout the year.  The course duration is 16 weeks and is divided into two Units of Study. Students will have 8 weeks to meet the requirements for each Unit of Study.

Choose this option if:

ü  You live anywhere in Australia (including Sydney) and  prefer to do things at your own pace in your own time

ü  You want to start the course anytime

ü  You live in a remote area (special support can be arranged) or outside of Sydney

ü  You do not want to lock into  classroom sessions

ü  You have other commitments that prevent you from attending the training centre

ü  You have the basic skills to access the learning site, complete assessments online (quite easy) and upload documents

ü  You don't mind communicating by email, phone and Skype (if required)

ü  You would rather watch webinars as required

Option 2 - Day Classes / Online

This program commences three times a year and includes 16 scheduled full day sessions, as well as access to our online course. This involves attending our training centre (in the Sydney, NSW area) for 16 interactive sessions led by one of our qualified trainers. Dates of sessions for the entire program are published on our website for easy planning. Sessions start on the allocated days at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm (provisions may be made for those who need to leave early - picking up kids for example). While we recommend that you attend all scheduled session, we also recognise that you are there by choice. Attendance to the classroom sessions is compulsory for half of these session, the others are voluntary!

Choose this option if:

ü  You live in Sydney - easy location, plenty of parking, great amenities, and great places to eat!

ü  You prefer the extra support and interaction of being face to face with your trainer in a modern facility with other students

ü  Get assistance from your assessor on site

ü  You prefer to plan your study and complete it within a specified time frame

ü  Classroom sessions will help you to commit to achieving your goals

ü  You would like free access to our communication centre with free laptop use, internet connection and more

ü  You would like to watch the webinars if you are unable to attend

Option 3 - Evening Classes / Online

This program commences three times a year and includes 28 scheduled [P1] evening sessions, as well as access to our online course. This involves attending our training centre (in the Sydney, NSW area) for 28 interactive sessions led by one of our qualified trainers. Dates of sessions for the entire program are published on our website for easy planning. Sessions start on the allocated evenings at 6:30am and finish at 9:00pm. While we recommend that you attend all scheduled session, we also recognise that you are there by choice. Attendance to the classroom sessions is compulsory for half of these session, the others are voluntary (but suggested)!

Choose this option if:

ü  You live in Sydney - easy location, plenty of Parking, great amenities and great places to eat nearby!

ü  You prefer the extra support and interaction of being face to face with your trainer in a modern facility with other students

ü  Get assistance from your assessor on site

ü  You prefer to plan your study and complete it within a specified time frame

ü  Classroom sessions will help you to commit to achieving your goals

ü  You would like free access to our communication centre with free laptop use, internet connection and more

Enrolments for this program are taken at multiple points throughout the year.  The course duration is 28 weeks and is divided into two Units of Study. Students will have 14 weeks to meet the requirements for each Unit of Study.

Fees & Funding

Payment and Fee Options

There are many options available for you to pay the fee for this course including:

  • Funded Training - Paying the applicable course fee in two instalments. This involves paying 5 prior to commencing the course with the balance of the payment being made at the midway point of the course.
  • Full fee - Paying the applicable course fee in three instalments - This involves paying 5 prior to commencing the course, paying 00 on week 6 of the course, 00 on week 12 and the balance on week 15 of the course.
  • Paying the applicable course fee in multiple instalments - available for all courses (see below)
  • Having the fee paid by another person including your employer. We will issue your employer with invoices for payment.
  • Requesting that we waive part or all of the applicable fee due to financial hardship and your circumstances.

What do I need to complete the course?

It is highly recommended that you have access to a computer (or laptop or similar), have reliable internet connectivity and have access to a basic printer and email software.

These are not mandatory, however it will allow you to complete your work to a standard expected of those undertaking this qualification. You may access these resources in the classroom including free Wi-Fi available should you be unable to access these resources outside of the classroom.

All learning resources and assessment books are provided for and this included in your course fee. You may however choose to take your own notes on a notepad or similar. Your trainer may suggest text books to allow you to develop your skills and knowledge using a variety of learning resources, however these are not mandatory and you will be provided with sufficient learning resources to attain the qualification.

Pens, highlighters, and other related stationary will not be provided and are highly recommended to enhance your learning experience.
