This program (SIR30116 Certificate III in Community Pharmacy) is designed for both those already working in a Community Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Assistant, as well as those who would like to persue a career in Community Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Assistant. Pharmacy Assistants meet, greet and assist customers that visit community pharmacies and provide essential support for these customers. They also support the care provided by the Pharmacist and the pharmacy in general.

Entry Requirments:

There are no educational prerequisites for entry into this training program.

Course Structure:

The course consists of Nineteen (19) units of competency comprising of Eleven (11) core units and Eight (8) elective units. These units are delivered in 4 modules. Just Careers Training (JCT) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO ID 91413) that has developed a program that meets the requirements of this qualification; all these units of competency are well suited to a role within a pharmacy store.

Options for Delivery:

This course is available by distance learning (online or print corrospondence). This involves being provided with training materials for completion online or by post.

This course is also available as a Face to Face course that involves attending for scheduled classes at our specially equipped training centre. All options require a work placement. Assessment Information:

Some assessments will require a workplace to be completed . Assessment methods may include:

  • Written questions
  • Tasks and projects
  • Scenario based questions, simulations
  • Collection of evidence of (new, current or prior) skills and experiences including workplace assessment
  • If you believe you have the skills and knowledge you could also consider Recognition of Prior Learning

Workplace Requirements:

If you are currently employed in a community pharmacy as a Pharmacy Assistant (or similar) then you may use your current workplace to complete the workplace assessments.

If you are not currently working within a Community Pharmacy, then you will have to arrange some work experience (minimum of 120 hours) with a Community Pharmacy. You may commence the course prior to securing your work placement, however you will not be able to complete the progranm without completing your work placement (you will have 12 months to meet all of the course requirements). We may be able to assist you in sourcing a suitable work placement, however this is your responsibility. We can also provide you with an Employer Pack which contains a letter of introduction and Insurance Cover.

Each module requires a workplace in order to complete all of the assessments. The work placement requirement may be increased or decreased for certain people depending on their circumstances.

You will be supported throughout the entire program by our qualified trainers, our great administration and customer service staff. The program includes unlimited email support along with telephone support.

Pathways:

Once complete, successful participants can further their skills and knowledge by undertaking other qualifications such as Certificate IV in Community Pharmacy , Certificate IV in Retail, and other suitable Certificate III and Certificate IV qualifications.
